Winter Vegetable Production Continues in Our University's TUAM Greenhouses.
Our University, which specializes in the field of “Value Added Agricultural Products”, continues to lead the agricultural development of the region.
Our University, which first produced cocktail tomatoes and green peppers within the Agricultural Application and Research Center (TUAM), has also started to produce curly lettuce and broccoli from winter vegetables.
As part of the studies carried out to set an example for local farmers in particular, cost calculations will be made with octopus-type stoves installed inside greenhouses.
As a result of scientific studies, economic data and production efficiency will be reported and shared with local farmers.
In the future, steps will be taken to ensure production throughout the entire Iğdır province in consultation with local farmers.
In addition, plant waste remaining from production will continue to be utilized.
In a statement regarding the ongoing efforts, Rector Alma said, "As Iğdır University, we have taken on the mission of meeting the vegetable needs of Iğdır province through our intensive work in the agricultural field. The geographical location and climate characteristics of our region provide us with a favorable potential for agriculture. To make the most of these opportunities, we aim to increase productivity by applying modern agricultural techniques with the agricultural research centers, laboratories, and expert teams within our University. Additionally, by promoting sustainable agricultural practices, we are continuing our agricultural activities with methods that protect the environment and natural resources."
